It all started as demented humor from the minds of teenaged boys. A group of friends sitting around, wasting time, losing our minds watching "River's Edge" over and over again. For those who have not seen the movie, it was a dark film about a group of friends in which one murders another and brags about it around school. The characters were real, yet some how being brought up the way we were, we found their behavior unbelievably amusing.

Keanu Reeves starring as the somewhat compassionate stoner named Matt, Ione Skye as the trampy girlfriend to all and Dennis Hopper as the hermit paranoid one-legged ex-biker named Feck all made the movie an underground classic. But it wasn't Hopper that lead to this campaign but the morally twisted speed freak named Layne portrayed by Crispin Glover. Picture his other classic character "McFly" of "Back to the Future" having a temper tantrum. His whiny bombastic voice was screaming to be imitated. "FECK! You Dying in there?", "Don't I get a fucking phone call?", "John is still alive. Don't you see that?", and "What do you know about Feck?" were all quotes that kept our day rolling along as with our matching life soundtracks to Slayer and Fates Warning.

When I was living in SE Atlanta, in what some would describe as Compton of the South, I found a puppy in the middle of my street. I asked the local kids whose dog it was and as it turned out he became mine. With the crew grown apart, I wanted an excuse to laugh and reminisce by continuing to quote that character by Crispin Glover and as it was the puppy was named Feck. The Feck Campaign has since become a tribute to those reckless times.
